The Admissions Process We appreciate your interest in The PowerThink Academy and look forward to working with you and your child as you move through the application process. The two most important criteria for admission are the child’s willingness to move from a large school to much smaller academic community as well as the full cooperation of the family. To be sure that every student will fit into and benefit from our personalized approach to learning, it is necessary to personally meet with the child and the parents in order to determine if he/she is willing and able to fit into our non-traditional, academic challenging environment and determine if we are able to meet the personal, academic, emotional and social needs of the prospective student. Admission Steps Arrange a Visit The best way to learn about what we do and how we do it is to visit to The PowerThink Academy. This provides prospective students and their parents with an opportunity to see PTA in action, to hear about the school from current students and to ask questions. Personal Interview Every prospective student and his/her parents meets with the Director for an interview. It is during this conversation that personal, academic, emotional and social compatibility is determined. Pre-Enrollment Parents are given a list of References (Parents of Former and Current Students) and encouraged to speak with them before making a decision to enroll their child. When the parents decide they want their child to become a student at The PowerThink Academy, the Registration Form and a Transfer of Records Form is completed and sent to the student’s current school. Acceptance Accepting a student is based on The PowerThink Academy’s ability to meet the needs of the prospective student and the student’s willingness to work within our unique program. Applications are accepted year-round and new students are admitted as space allows. The PowerThink Academy accepts students of any race, color, religion or national origin. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation or national origin in administering our educational policies, our admissions policies, or our administrative policies
