Mission/Philosophy

Mission Statement

The PowerThink Academy is an independent, alternative, elementary school whose mission is to educate  responsible, life-long learners to possess and use the skills, knowledge, creativity, sense of self-worth, wisdom and personal ethics necessary to contribute to and flourish in a rapidly changing, culturally diverse, global society by providing a learning environment that is personalized and developmentally appropriate for students from first through eighth grade.

Our Philosophy

We Believe that learning is life-long process, that every child can learn and that all individuals learn at different rates and in different ways.

We Believe that every child is a gifted, talented, special and multi-faceted human being who deserves to be educated in an environment where he/she is known and cared about and supports them and their ability to learn and helps them to turn all of their potential into personal power in order to live, work and make positive changes in their own lives, in their communities and in the world.

We Believe that every child has inherent worth and ability.

We believe that a student’s self-esteem and self-confidence are critical components of and affect all learning.  Therefore, our students are treated with dignity and respect and come to believe that learning is possible for them.

We Believe that true education is grounded in freedom of choice and self-discovery which leads to self-understanding, self-motivation, independence, personal responsibility and academic excellence.

We Believe that students are accountable for their choices, decisions and actions.

We believe that the appreciation of individuality and diversity is important to effective learning.

We Believe that personally and actively involving our students in the process of learning that integrates education, individuality and their human spirit empowers them to overcome the daily challenges of doing their best and becoming who they really are in all areas of their lives.
