Student Profile

Alike in their natural ability to learn but unique in who they are and where and how they learn, our students are guided and supported to do their best and be their best  academically, socially, emotionally and personally as they grow toward becoming independent, responsible, sensitive and imaginative thinkers and doers.

Although our students are individuals, they do share some of the following characteristics:

  • They let us know what they need.
  • They need personal space.
  • They need the freedom to think and create.
  • They often suggest better ways of doing things.
  • They find ritually-oriented systems frustrating.
  • They need to be heard and treated with respect.
  • They are not motivated by criticism, punishment or guilt.
  • The have a strong desire to feel accepted as individuals.
  • They need to know WHY.

Some of these children may be gifted and independent, may experience learning differences or may be highly sensitive to their surroundings.  We welcome them all and respect them as unique individuals.  We do not permit any student to be labeled but celebrate their differences, for being different is what makes us all so special.

The children who attend The PowerThink Academy come from public or parochial schools.  Some have been home-schooled.  We have also had students who began first grade with us and stayed through eighth grade graduation.  Personalization makes it possible for us to accommodate students and their families on a person-to-person, what works best for you basis.

Engaged in transforming how they learn, students thrive and spirits soar at The PowerThink Academy.  We hear this from our parents, we hear this from our students and we see it in the day-to-day transition our students are making from trying harder and struggle to academic and personal growth and success.
